Clean Energy and Indigenous Leadership Workshop - Chad Walker

The LES Program Trainees participated in an insightful & impactful presentation on Clean Energy and Indigenous Leadership led by Assistant Professor Chad Walker.

The discussion highlighted the critical role of Indigenous communities in shaping the future of sustainable energy, addressing systemic injustices, and promoting reconciliation in Canada. One of the key themes was the importance of increasing education and involvement within Indigenous Communities around Clean Energy initiatives. Indigenous Communities have a unique relationship with the land and valuable knowledge that can guide sustainable practices. By promoting education and actively involving Indigenous Leaders in these projects, we foster a more inclusive, informed, and sustainable approach to energy development.

Empowering Indigenous Leadership in Clean Energy is essential - not just for environmental sustainability but for advancing social justice, preserving cultural heritage, and building a more equitable future.
